Obama Taps Another RIAA Lawyer

For an administration that rode its platform of transparency into the White House, it seems rather odd that they continue to tap lawyers from an organization that is stuck in the dark ages.

I certainly don’t like lawyers like this stockpiled in a government agency that is tasked with upholding the legal standards of our country. The RIAA has proved itself as an organization that does not get it. I dont mean to sit here and say that “stealing” music is the right thing to do. But there are models out there now that will, and can. work to their advantage. Look at some of the artists using the internet to give music away. It is an advertisement for them and they reap great benefits from it.

In any case, I hope the administration soon finds it way back to fulfill the promises of hope and transparency that we all looked forward to.

President Barack Obama is tapping another RIAA attorney into the Justice Department.

Monday’s naming of Ian Gershengorn, to become the department’s deputy assistant attorney of the Civil Division, comes more than a week after nearly two-dozen public interest groups, trade pacts and library coalitions urged the new president to quit filling his administration with lawyers plucked from the Recording Industry Association of America.

The move makes it five RIAA lawyers Obama has appointed to the Justice Department.
